Millgate Midlands Retreat is set amid beautiful countryside on the R103, between Nottingham Road and beautiful Howick, on the Midlands Meander. It is conveniently located close to several private schools in the area, and is only 5 km from Michaelhouse – ideal for parents dropping off their children at the start of term time, and wanting a night to break their journey, or to spend some time exploring the Midlands.
We have 3 suites and 2 chalets available, comprising of either one or two bedrooms, which can be booked for long stays or even a one-night stop-over. With several well-known wedding venues nearby, we are perfectly situated to cater for the needs of wedding guests and family, although we do offer facilities for functions and weddings ourselves.
We are within easy reach of Midmar Dam and the countless attractions that the Midlands Meander has to offer, as well as the nearby Drakensberg resorts. Mooi River is just 25 minutes to the North, and Howick (20 minutes) and Pietermaritzburg (35 minutes) to the South.
The notoriously delightful Shazorro, our onsite German Bistro, presents a tantalizing array of German cuisine; mouth-watering Danish pastries and artisanal breads; and succulent sausages that beckon you to indulge, whether you choose to dine indoors or out on our deck with relaxing views of the gardens and putt-putt course. The Bistro invites you from Wednesday to Sunday, 8am – 4pm, with the tantalizing option of evening meals available only through prior booking. Why not treat yourself?
